2) NatureWise Elite 95% CLA 1300

CLA stands for “conjugated linoleic acid”. It’s a naturally-occurring fatty acid that many of us get in our regular diets through meat and dairy.

CLA is an appetite suppressant and has been shown to promote a feeling of fullness after eating meals.[6]

There is some evidence, though, that CLA is more than just an appetite suppressant.

CLA can also assist in weight loss by increasing metabolism and promoting healthy metabolic function, reducing inflammation, has anti-diabetic properties, and reduces fat cell synthesis.

When combined with exercise, CLA is thought to decrease body fat while maintaining muscle mass.

NatureWise Elite 95% CLA 1300 contains 1.3 grams of CLA extracted from safflower seed oil. This product is free of peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, dairy, gluten, wheat, soy, and eggs, so it’s safe for people with food allergies. It doesn’t contain any unnecessary fillers.

If you’re thinking of taking NatureWise Elite 95% CLA 1300 or any other CLA appetite suppressant product, don’t expect significant results without combining it with exercise. Where CLA shines is shifting body weight composition to be more muscle than fat.

It’s great for those who already exercise but feel they’ve reached a plateau in their results.

Pros:

  • Promotes weight loss in multiple ways
  • Encourages better body composition

Cons:

  • Comes in large-sized pills, making it difficult for some to swallow

LEAN-XT Non Stimulant Fat Burner is a weight loss formula that contains:

  • 750mg of acetyl l-carnitine hci – carnitine is responsible for energy production and promoting an active metabolism.
  • Green tea extract (98% polyphenols, 75% catechins, 45% EGCG) – all-natural appetite suppressant that also speeds up the metabolism. Does not contain caffeine.
  • 150mg of coleus forskohlii root extract – Used for fat burning.

LEAN-XT Non-Stimulant Fat Burner contains an interesting mix of active ingredients that have promising, albeit limited evidence for weight loss. Like many weight management supplements, consumers would benefit from more rigorous scientific testing to understand it better.

In our month of testing, we did find it effective as an appetite suppressant.

Overall, a good deal of consumers appear happy with the results that they’ve gotten from this supplement. Some have reported digestive issues (stomach ache and diarrhea), though.

It’s a good fit in particular if you’re sensitive to caffeine.

Pros:

PolyGlycopleX, or PGX, is a trademarked blend of polysaccharides (a type of carbohydrate) that is believed to suppress appetite and food cravings. Some also believe that it lowers LDL cholesterol, aka “bad” cholesterol.

Researchers think that PGX suppresses appetite by influencing the hormones that control our cravings. In a 54-person study, participants who took PGX had significantly increased levels of the hormones related to satiety (the feeling of fullness).[7] That’s a small sample size, but it’s a result worthy of attention.

As its title suggests, Natural Factors WellBetX PGX also contains mulberry, which has reduced bad cholesterol in clinical testing.

Pros:

  • The active ingredient, PGX, has proven effective at suppressing appetite in small clinical trials

Cons:

  • Contains xanthum gum, which can cause gas and/or bloating
  • Some people have reported having constipation from using this product

Griffonia simplicifolia is a shrub native to Africa that has not just an appetite suppressing effect but can also reduce anxiety. The active ingredient in griffonia simplicifolia that makes it effective for weight loss is 5-HTP.

There have been a couple of studies with results indicating that griffonia simplicifolia 5-HTP has weight loss benefits.

In one, participants saw a decrease in arm and weight measurements and an increase in satiety levels.[9]

In another, participants experienced a large drop in weight and decreased appetite over a two-month period.[10]

This particular 5-HTP supplement from Arazo Nutrition contains 200mg of hydroxytryptophan from griffonia simplicifolia seed and 328mg of calcium.

This product is actually not marketed as a weight loss supplement, but for its anti-depressant, anti-anxiety and serotonin-producing effects. The Takeaway

Everyone’s body chemistry is slightly different, so it’s a good idea to try one appetite suppressant product at a time (multiple appetite suppressants could have adverse effects and you won’t know which product led to the results) and come to a conclusion based on the evidence as to which appetite suppressant(s) works for you.

Having said that, we do think the best appetite suppressant for most people is VitaRaw’s Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules.  It’s a safe and natural way to lose weight by suppressing your appetite and has been proven effective for many people.
