The decision to take a pre-workout supplement is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but the most common ingredients found in pre-workout supplements (listed above) are generally known to be effective and safe.

What we try to avoid when possible is a lack of transparency in supplements: some supplement companies, rather than list out their ingredients and their quantities, give what are called “proprietary blends”.

This may help them keep the competition from stealing their formulas, but it doesn’t allow you to be informed as a consumer as to what you’re putting into your body.
